The Language Resource Centers Program was created in 1990 under Title VI of the Higher Education Act of the U.S. Department of Education. Three centers were established in 1990, including this one at Georgetown. Today, there are nine centers throughout the United States. The mission of these centers is to serve as resources to improve the nation's capacity to teach and learn foreign languages effectively.
